Kilbehenny
is one of a group of eight chosen villages
throughout the Ballyhoura Region which has been awarded
the title 'Village of Tradition'.
Many
events take place in our community to preserve our
heritage and cultures such as card games; old
time dancing, Irish dancing, sewing, knitting,
bastable baking, crafts etc. Kilbehenny
offers fantastic facilities where one can enjoy
the great outdoors - mountain climbing, walking, cycling,
nature trails, bird watching, fishing
and wonderful species of wildlife.
Nesting boxes have been placed at strategic
locations, and we are delighted to see these
being used by our native birds.
Take
a break from the busy pace of life and put
Kilbehenny on your list of places to visit.
A warm welcome awaits
you
Fás Community Employment Scheme
Carmel English, Supervisor
The Community Employment Scheme
continues to be the backbone of our community both
in Kilbehenny and in Anglesboro. The objective
of the C.E. Scheme is to provide opportunities for
individual training and personal development.
There are
eleven participants on our scheme who are busy
catering for the needs of our communities, being
involved in the ongoing activities which take place
during the year at the Community Centre.
The participants play a major
role in the upkeep of Kilbehenny village and its
surrounds, ensuring it is looking its best in
preparation for the Tidy Towns Competition which
takes place annually.

Tidy Towns Committee receiving National
Special Endeavour Award in 2008
Our
Tidy Towns
Committee was set up in
2008,
and in that year, we secured a National
Special Endeavour Award for the project carried
out at Condon's Corner.
In 2009 our marks improved by 34,
the highest increase nationally for any village,
and for this we again received a
National
Special Endeavour Award.
Work is ongoing, with stone beds, hanging
baskets, flower boxes etc all being planted and
we are very grateful to all who help keep
Kilbeheny looking its best.
